What's The Difference?
During the reign of King James, it was against the law to practice any other religion besides that of the English Church. Fortunately there were some who did not agree with the law. Some thought that they should become holier and purer and everything should be simple, so they became what we call now “Puritans.” There was also another group who wished to fully abandon the Church of England forever. They would gather in privet houses, and instead of going to church like others, would pray as their hearts told them. These we call “Separatists” or “Brownings,” From one of their leaders. King James thought this new religion treason. Did the Church of England change fully? No, but now we are able to worship freely and not be thrown in jail.
